-Reviewed possible acquisition/joint venture/strategic partner alternatives for the epoxy resins business of a major specialty chemicals company, in anticipation of strategic options commencing upon the completion of the divestiture of this unit.
-Identified and analyzed potential acquisition candidates in the engineered textiles industry for a specialty fiber converter, through an independent consulting firm. Included were physical and financial resource assessments; market strength weightings; potential synergies in procurement, manufacturing, and marketing; structure of ownership; and likelihood of ownership accepting acquisition overtures.
-Performed an assessment of growth financing options for a composite materials part manufacturer that has averaged 75% annual revenues growth over the past 5 years. Included were assessments of pursuing venture capital partners, a private placement memorandum, or an initial public offering through Regulation A or Regulation D of the Small Corporation Offering Regulations. Also participated in negotiations for patent licensing; interfacing between patent counsel and inventor to develop patent and protect intellectual property; helped develop a valuation process for potential acquirers; selection of comparable firms for a fairness opinion to support the valuation; and met with potential equity investors.
-Performed a product line and raw materials rationalization study of an acquisition in the coated fabrics business for the acquirer through an independent consulting firm. Included were an analysis and reduction in suppliers, competitive cross-referencing of procured materials, and development of a cost comparison template for future product development activities.
-Performed technical and market consulting for a new venture in the composite materials industry. Included were summaries of major accounts, volumes of potential business, outlining of market entry obstacles, comparison and identification of competitors strengths and weaknesses, and a short term plan for penetrating the market.
-Developed a market assessment for opportunities in the infrastructure and construction markets for a private construction materials firm, with the intention of creating a joint venture with this firm and players in the epoxy resin, carbon fiber, and related composite materials field.
-Executed a specific industry survey of the marine markets for the leading composite materials supplier. Tasks included a market survey, technology assessments, competitive analyses, entry strategies, and sales projections for a series of products. In addition, provided transition support to the firm's sales staff during its merger of with the composite materials subsidiary of a major European chemical manufacturer.
-Performed a technical assessment and competitive analysis for an industrial fabricator in a parallel industrial market, specializing in fluid sealing. Responsibilities include source identification, technical product development, technical marketing support for new products, and analysis of competitive technical products and literature.
-While consulting with a fiberglass industry re-seller, managed the North American market development activities for a European high strength glass fiber manufacturer.
